Peninsula Connection Project
Region: Dunedin
Date: 2023
Approximate Value: $86m
The Peninsula Connection Project is a major transport and public infrastructure programme delivered for Dunedin City Council along the Otago Harbour edge. Spanning approximately 25 kilometres from the Vauxhall Yacht Club to Taiaroa Head, the project was developed to improve safety, accessibility and connectivity for pedestrians, cyclists, runners and motorists travelling between the city and the Otago Peninsula.
Delivered in stages, the works included road widening and raising, rock seawalls, shared pathways, bridges, boardwalks, stairways, seating, rest areas, drainage, lighting and native planting. The project enhances access to one of Dunedin's most iconic landscapes while improving resilience and creating a safer, more attractive route for residents and visitors alike.
Rawlinsons provided Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services throughout the programme, including estimating, variation assessments, cost forecasting and commercial support across multiple project stages.
